Can one get a strong website, killer content and effective SEO for just a few thousand a month?

 


I have been working as an SEO consultant for over 20 years. For the first many years, I mostly work with a slightly larger company, most of them with large complex websites and ditto organizations. 

Doing SEO for that type of customer can often run-up to tens of thousands of dollars each month - and it has, in step with increasing and more complex demands from both Google and users, certainly not become cheaper. Even smaller companies often end up spending many thousands of dollars on getting proper SEO services advice - so that their website can be optimally optimized, in addition to the costs of developing, correcting, maintaining, and writing the content on their website - not to mention the ongoing link building that is necessary for most people who want visible results. Proper link the building alone can rarely be done for less than DKK 2-3,000 per link. month. So how can some be so naive as to think that you can get both a strong website, hosting, texts that sell, SEO and ongoing link building for as little as just a few thousand kroner per. month? SEO is resilience by the meter

One of the big challenges with SEO - when you have to buy it has always been that in many ways it is "elastic in meters". There are no formal or regulatory specifications of what “SEO” is. 

If you buy a car, I'm sure that consumer protection will ensure that you at least get a metal box you can sit in, four wheels and an engine - a vehicle that can legally transport people around. 

The same cannot be said about SEO. I have seen many sad examples of people buying SEO, which in practice can be compared to a shoebox without a motor and wheels. Yes, on the surface it might look like SEO (e.g. because there were search engine friendly URLs and the ability to edit TITLEs), but that just is NOT enough. Before writing the texts, you need to have a good understanding of how people are actually searching This is what we call "keyword research". It requires both access to the right tools and a whole lot of knowledge and experience to do that kind of research properly. Once you know how your target audience is searching, the texts should be written. But not only that - they need to be set up in the formats, elements and page types that both benefit conversions and visibility in Google as best as possible. The fact is that almost no business - whether small or large, has the necessary knowledge about conversion optimization and Google content optimization needed to create the desired results. 

So to deliver a - even quite strong, technical platform and then just bet on you can write this content yourself is in practice completely unrealistic.
